New Covered Tennis Courts at The Grange Club, Edinburgh, Scotland

The Grange Club in Edinburgh, Scotland, has expanded its indoor tennis facilities by installing a DUOL air dome to cover two courts, ensuring year-round play in any weather. This project, supported by LTA Tennis Foundation and Tennis Scotland, aligns with their vision of making tennis more accessible to the community.

DUOL Air Domes – All-Weather Play with Maximum Flexibility

DUOL’s state-of-the-art air dome technology provides a climate-controlled, energy-efficient environment, allowing players to train and compete regardless of external conditions. With its rapid installation, minimal foundation requirements, and superior insulation, the air dome is a cost-effective and sustainable solution for expanding sports infrastructure.

Rick Symington, chair of The Grange Club, highlighted the impact:

“Having the ability to play all year round and not worry about the elements will make a tremendous difference. We've had many new joiners eager to play regardless of the season.”

This transformation eliminates seasonal limitations, offering a consistent playing experience that benefits both recreational and competitive players.

Quick & Efficient Installation

One of the key advantages of DUOL’s air dome is its fast and efficient installation process. The entire structure was erected within just a few days, minimizing disruptions to the club’s operations and allowing members to quickly benefit from the new indoor courts. This rapid setup makes air domes an ideal solution for clubs looking to expand their facilities with minimal downtime.

Below, you can see the transformation of the courts before and after the air dome installation:

Community Access & Growth

In line with the LTA’s ‘tennis opened up’ vision, the new covered courts will be available for Pay and Play, enabling non-members to easily access the facilities. This initiative fosters community engagement, ensuring more people can enjoy the sport without long-term commitments.

Kirsty Humphries, Head of Facilities at Tennis Scotland, emphasized the broader impact:

“The Grange Club’s new facilities are a fantastic addition to Scottish tennis and will inspire other clubs to expand their offerings.”

DUOL is proud to contribute to this vision, providing high-quality air dome solutions that enhance accessibility and long-term sustainability for tennis clubs worldwide.
