Testing space on Earth. New research center for autonomous systems

Testing space on Earth. New research center for autonomous systems

In DUOL air dome, the first & only of its kind in the world, researchers will be able to test new solutions for autonomous systems, on the ground, in the air in water and in space.

A.I. will prepare robots for the unknown

Autonomy will be a key technology for the future exploration of our solar system, where robots will often be out of communication with their human controllers. In DUOL air dome, the first & only of its kind in the world, researchers will be able to test new solutions for autonomous systems.

Structures that we build on Mars could be 3D-printed and they may be built by Automated robots — and ready before astronauts even get there.

Automated robots can adapt to the environment and perform complex tasks partly or entirely without human assistance, either in cooperation with other machines or with humans. Besides space exploration, there is huge potential also for making our lives easier and better in the future. Well-known examples of autonomous systems are self-driving cars or drones used in inspection tasks and more.

The new research Airdome facility includes elements from many different scientific fields such as artificial intelligence, automation and robot technology, image recognition, big data analysis, technology management, and remote control.

DUOL Airdome: Unique testing facility

DUOL is proud to be part of the unique testing facility that can help improve our lives. It represents the latest research in highly automated and intelligent systems and is one of the world’s largest test facilities for robots and drones.

Autonomous Systems Test Arena (ASTA) is situated in Copenhagen, Denmark and it is a hub where research, innovation and education meet with industry to trigger new scientific questions, foster take-up of scientific advancements, develop industry-academia collaborations and provide means for testing and demonstrating innovations in the field of autonomous systems.
